Acoustic Consultation

For several years, I studied acoustics. This is a fascinating subject and there is a unique feeling of accomplishment when you can see improvements on measurement software and hear the difference in person or on a recording. 

For several years, I spent between 2 and 4 hours a day moderating and helping people on a recording studio design forum. It was started by one of my hero acousticians, John L Sayers who sadly passed away on September 14, 2021. With his passing, his daughter and I along with 2 other people tried to come up with a way to keep the forum alive, but the costs of hosting such a grand site were too extreme and now there is only a landing page.

Designing spaces for people in other parts of the world has been really interesting as building codes and practices are so unique. The challenges of sourcing materials in different areas is always a task as well. Most of the acoustic treatment devices I design or recommend are DIY so if you hire me for your project, there is a good chance I'll be asking you to try to build things yourself :-)

Design/consultation rate: $50/hr + gst
